I hike because I have an insatiable curiosity for the natural world and my body/mind loves it when I move in nature. I’ve portaged across the Boundary Waters in Minnesota, hiked peaks in Acadia, wandered the Redwoods in California, and inhaled the pines in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I love those moments when I pass other fat people on the trail and we give each other that nod and grin that says, “I see you.” Being fat in these spaces is powerful. Representation matters.
I’ve spent my time in the concrete jungles and government halls and now I’m building a life around my ability to set out into nature every day. By day, I am a consultant and I coach people who want to save the world without collapsing in on themselves like a dying star. By other time of day, I am most likely exploring the woods, visiting museums, and making art near my home on Naumkeag land in Salem, MA.
I identify as a rad fat, disabled, queer, non-binary, white, midwestern transplant. I’m called to the work of fighting oppression in all its forms. Building community is such a huge part of that, so I am honored to have the opportunity to build community with other fat folks in Eastern Massachusetts.
I cannot freaking wait to hike with you!
