Escaping Your Comfort Zone:  A plus-size woman’s adventure revolution based in Melbourne, VIC in Australia, which offers hikes & retreats.

Trail Dames:  A hiking group for curvy women whose mission is to welcome, empower and educate women of all shapes, sizes, and experience and fitness levels to responsibly explore nature.  They have chapters in 15 states that lead group hikes monthly.

The Seven Principles of Leave No Trace were developed to help educate and guide recreationists in sustainable minimum impact practices that mitigate or avoid recreation-related impacts.

American Hiking Society champions conservation issues, builds public and private partnerships, supports volunteer stewardship, and provides critical resources to help plan, fund, and develop trails. We also provide resources to the public about how and where to hike and are committed to increasing the participation and enjoyment of hiking by everyone.

Be Nourished:  Portland-based resource center that offers “programs, workshops, retreats, and e-courses to help people cultivate body trust, as well as counseling, yoga, and naturopathic care to holistically complement the supportive atmosphere we believe is needed to realize long-term body acceptance, an ability to eat intuitively, and the power to psychologically and physically be nourished.”

The Body Is Not An Apology is an international movement committed to cultivating global Radical Self Love and Body Empowerment.

Virgie Tovar:  Author, activist and one of the nation’s leading experts and lecturers on fat discrimination and body image. Jes Baker:  Writes the blog The Militant Baker and wrote the book Things No One Will Tell Fat Girls. She is a body advocate, fat model, mental health professional, self-love enthusiast, Tedx speaker, and feminist.

Jessamyn Stanley:  Yoga teacher, body positive advocate, and writer based in Durham, North Carolina. Her classes provide a body positive approach to yoga which celebrates students’ bodies and encourages them to ask “How do I feel?” rather than “How do I look?” when practicing yoga.

Lindy West:  Columnist and freelance writer whose work focuses on feminism, social justice, humor, and body image. Author of Shrill: Notes from A Loud Woman.
